MIL-STD-810H Method 507.6 Humidity Chamber – X Series Size 20
The Auto Technology X Series Size 20 is a computer-controlled humidity chamber configurable for selected MIL-STD-810H Method 507.6 Procedure I profiles. Advanced Climate Control programs the coupled temperature and RH changes used by natural B1, B2, and B3 and induced B1.

Description
MIL-STD-810H Method 507.6 Humidity Chamber
The Auto Technology X Series Size 20 can be configured for selected temperature-humidity profiles from MIL-STD-810H Method 507.6 Procedure I. The PC control system and Advanced Climate Control package coordinate temperature and RH through the hourly conditions defined by the selected cycle.
This configuration covers natural B1, B2, and B3 profiles and induced B1. The required cycle must be selected from the test item’s anticipated storage, transit, and operational environment.
Cycle-specific capability: Method 507.6 does not define one universal humidity exposure. The test plan must identify the procedure, B1/B2/B3 category, natural or induced profile, duration, test-item configuration, and operational-check requirements.

Nominal 100% RH means as close to saturation as possible, but not below 95% RH for chamber-control purposes. The general Method 507.6 tolerance is ±5 percentage points RH at the control sensor.
Procedure I Test Sequence
- Condition the test item for at least 24 hours at 23 ±2 °C and 50 ±5% RH.
- Run the selected induced storage/transit profile for the duration required by the test plan.
- Return to 23 ±2 °C and 50 ±5% RH until the test item stabilizes.
- Inspect, operationally check, and reconfigure the test item for its operating environment.
- Run the corresponding natural profile for the required number of 24-hour cycles.
- Return to standard ambient conditions for final stabilization, inspection, and operational checkout.
B1 selection note: A test plan may require only the induced storage/transit exposure or only a natural exposure. The applicable requirements document determines the required sequence.

Computer-Controlled Temperature and RH Profiles


Method 507.6 Chamber and Measurement Requirements
- Prevent chamber condensate from dripping onto the test item.
- Vent the test volume to prevent total-pressure buildup.
- Drain and discard condensate rather than reusing it.
- Use RH sensors whose calibration is not affected by condensation, or another accepted measurement method.
- Maintain air velocity around the test item between 0.5 and 1.7 m/s.
- Record temperature and RH continuously or at digital intervals of 15 minutes or less.
- Use an independent calibrated recording system separate from the chamber controller.
Water used for humidity generation should have a pH of 6.5-7.2 at 25 °C. MIL-STD-810H recommends water resistivity between 0.15 and 5 MΩ·cm and requires water quality to be documented when it falls outside that range.
Scope of this configuration: Induced B2 reaches 63 °C/19% RH, and induced B3 reaches 71 °C/14% RH. Those profiles and the Procedure II aggravated cycle require separate engineering verification and are not included in this Size 20 capability claim.
